NDIS INFORMATION

+ What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way for people with a disability to receive the support they require. The NDIS has an emphasis on choice and control and provides individualised funding to each participant who meets access. For more information on the NDIS, please click this link: www.ndis.gov.au

+ Who is eligible for NDIS?

To become a participant of the NDIS, you need to meet the following criteria: Be an Australian Citizen or hold a Permanent Visa Be between the ages of 7 and 65 Have a permanent disability which substantially reduces your ability to live independently To get started with the NDIS please view information at: www.ndis.gov.au

+ What is the NDIS price guide?

The NDIS Price Guide is a document that is released each year, which sets a price limit for common NDIS supports. The NDIS Price Guide also provides information to both providers and participants around the pricing structure, rules and regulations, as well as service agreement requirements. The NDIS Price Guide sets a limit to the amount a provider can charge you for supports. You may wish to negotiate these prices to pay less and maximise your plan. It is widely recommended that the NDIS Price Guide be used as a benchmark and consider the quality of support for the amount that is charged.

+ What are the types of plan management?

There are 3 different ways to manage the funding that will be approved in your NDIS plan, they are:

  • Agency-Managed: the NDIA will pay your providers on your behalf. With this option you must engage with providers that are registered with the NDIA. Providers will claim payment electronically, directly from the NDIA. With this option, providers are only able to claim what has been agreed upon by you and you will still be able to view the myPlace Portal to track your funding.
  • Self-Managed: the NDIA will provide you with funding so that you are able to access supports that will allow you to achieve your goals. With this option, you are able to draw on your funding via the myPlace Portal and pay your providers directly. With this option you have greater choice and control as you can access any provider (they do not need to be registered with the NDIA) and have more ability to negotiate a better price.
  • Plan-Managed: the NDIA will include funding in your plan for a designated Plan Manager, who pays your NDIS bills for you. Your Plan Manager can also help you keep track of your funding and also takes care of all the financial reporting for you. By choosing this option, you have all the flexibility of Self-Management however it takes away the stress of needing to pay the bills yourself.

+ What is the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission?

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is an independent agency that works to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services. The NDIS Commission also works with NDIS participants, service providers and the community to provide national consistency, promote safety and quality services as well as resolve problems and identify any areas of improvement. If you would like more information on the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission please click this link: https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/

+ Why choose a NDIS Registered Provider

NDIS registered providers undergo a thorough process where they submit an application to the NDIA and demonstrate compliance with stringent quality and safety standards, resulting in their esteemed accreditation. To become an NDIS provider, a meticulous application is requisite, followed by a comprehensive audit process. The NDIA evaluates the organization comprehensively during an assessment phase. Following their decision, the provider diligently fulfills all registration prerequisites, ultimately culminating in the issuance of a Certificate of Registration. This certification reflects the provider's alignment with the NDIS's exacting criteria and underscores their commitment to excellence in service provision.
