CoP Meeting | 26th July 2023
On Wednesday 26th July, local NDIS service providers and allied health professionals gathered together at the beautiful Peibri Place to connect and learn from one another on ways to collaboratively improve services to ensure our community receives the best support. Hosted by Myrtec, the day morning was filled with insightful conversation surrounding the disability industry, educating guest speakers and an array of tasty treats to boost the energy levels.
We were privileged to listen to an array of guest speakers touching on different topics to help improve company processes and supports our community received.
We first heard from Johanna Rowe, talking on behalf of One Door Mental Health addressing the importance of looking after yourself as a carer for someone with mental health. Through One Door, people living with mental illness and their families can find an inclusive community, innovative services and advocacy support. Creating a world in which people with a mental illness are valued and treated as equals is at the heart of everything we do.
We then heard from NDIS Insurance Professional, Julie, from LHB Insurance. Her presentation delivered useful and insightful knowledge into the insurance world to ensure NDIS service providers are taking appropriate steps to mitigate the risk in regards to specialist disability accomodation.
To wrap up our morning of guest speakers we heard from New Leaf’s, NDIS Relationship Counsellor, Britt Hickey. Britt touched on a very engaging and important topic of how to help participants thrive in all types of relationships.
With a full belly, comes full attention. Our meeting running into lunch, Myrtec graciously organised some tasty nibbles to keep us fuelled deep into our collaboration session.
Our meeting concluded with a collaboration session in which we came together and discussed matters of importance within the industry.
Thank you all who attended. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
